The studio
Three people, a long table, and a great deal of reading.
Saphira Luna began in 2016 when our founder left a trade publicity desk with one stubborn conviction: that independently published books were not being under-read because they were worse, but because nobody was doing the unglamorous work of introducing them properly.
Ten years later, we still work the way a small imprint does — a manuscript, a marked-up blurb, a list of the forty people most likely to fall for it.
What we hold to
We read first.
No strategy call happens before someone here has finished the book.
Small on purpose.
Nine titles a season. Growth would cost the thing that makes this work.
Readers, not impressions.
We measure copies, reviews and list growth. Nothing that only looks good in a deck.
Honest fit.
We turn down books we can't help. It's the kindest thing we do.
